Broken Wings -New story

I decided that instead of just writing about my new book, I would tell you about it. Have a look at my video below. The word tape at the end tells you just how old I am!

I hope you enjoyed that. For more detail about my book see below.

It was supposed to be the best day of her life. Morgan had waited seven years for this day, but on that day, the man of her dreams decided he didn’t want to marry her. Morgan’s world came crushing to the ground. This wasn’t the first time Xander had let her down, he had a habit of leaving and reappearing into her life.
As a surgeon and an older woman, it wasn’t expected that his departure would trigger Morgan to start to self-harm.  Morgan begins to struggle with her mental health and it doesn’t matter how hard she tries, she can’t stop hurting herself.  Shame and fear keep her from seeking help for a while, but there comes a point when she can no longer take it and it’s either sink or swim. Morgan needs help, some sort of life line. Will she receive one or will she sink? Will the man she once loved help or hinder her? There are so many roads she can take, but only one road will bring her back to normal. The only problem is, Morgan struggles with making the right decisions. Sometimes love can conquer all, sometimes old love can conquer all and sometimes love isn’t enough. Only Morgan can make that decision and perhaps the best love she can receive is the love she gives herself.

This is a story of overcoming and understanding that mental health isn’t sentence of doom, but sometimes it’s an awakening to the true self.

‘No. It’s fine. These things need sorting I guess. This wasn’t what they expected.’ She forced a smile. ‘Excuse me a sec. Need the loo.’ She left them and rushed upstairs.

She locked the door behind her and grabbed the scissors. She didn’t want to do this. She knew this wasn’t a solution, and that the more she cut herself the worse she’d make her skin, but even with that thought, she just couldn’t help it. She couldn’t not do it; the emotional pain was demanding to be heard or suppressed. The emotional pain was intense, she wanted it out of her body, she wanted it to leave her alone. It felt as thought she’d been possessed by something evil that was causing her so much pain that she had no power to get rid of it except mark herself again with the scissors. She drew a line parallel to the one she had made earlier that morning. It was as if the evil departed as the blood dripped out, relieving her once again!

‘Everything okay?’ Jade asked once Morgan walked back into the kitchen.

‘Yes fine. I want you guys to stop worrying about me, I’m doing okay.’

‘What about Xander? Have you heard from him?’

‘No.’ She didn’t want to talk about it, but she knew her friend meant well. ‘He’ll come around when he’s ready.’

Milo opened and shut his mouth, he wanted to tell her what he would do to the bastard, as well as tell her not to take him back, but they had been down that road before.

This book is available at Amazon US and Amazon UK

Hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed telling it.

It’s only when questions begin to be asked does Skylar begin to question herself. She may be successful at business, but when it comes to love, she becomes blind to what is. Her life is turn upside down once again, just when she thought her husband was being a good man. Everything has changed and now she needs to make sense of it all and decide the way forward. Would she ever be able to trust again? Would there be a man who didn’t hurt her so much? Only time will tell, in the mean time she has to face the darkness that is right in front of her so that at some point she can finally be in the light once again!

Excerpt

She found him begging on a street corner a block away.
‘Remember me?’ she asked.
‘Who are you?’
‘I asked you about the restaurant owner. You said you knew Lucy.’
‘Who are you?’ he asked again.
She pulled her mobile from her pocket and showed him the Lucy’s picture. He seemed saddened.
‘Do you know what happened to her?’
He was silent.
‘Do you know what happened to this lady? Did you see her leave and get into a car?’
‘Who are you?’ he asked again, and she wondered if he was a bit looney or he was just being cautious.
‘I’m a detective. I’m looking for this lady. Her parents are very worried about her. If you can help me that would be great.’ She put the phone closer, so he could take a good look at her face.
‘Do you know her?’ she kept her voice calm. She would be as patient as she could be. That was the only way she would get answers.
‘She’s really pretty.’
‘Yes, she is. Did you see her at all?’
‘She gives me coffee, but not anymore.’
She sucked in a deep breath. They were going in circles. Did he even know who he was?
‘Have you seen her?’
He was silent, then looked out into the street. She moved towards him and looked into his eyes. He had a vacant look. ‘Sir.’ She changed the picture to Noah’s. ‘Do you know this man?’
He didn’t move.
‘Sir?’
This time he tilted his head to the side and looked. ‘Bad man,’ he said and looked away.
‘Sir. Do you know him?’ She was onto something.
‘Bad man. Very bad man.’
‘Why do you say that?’ he looked around him, crouched, picked up his rucksack and sleeping bag. He started to walk away.
‘Sir.’ She rushed after him.
‘Who are you?’ he said once again.

Hope you enjoy!

Inmate Series book three

Remember the inmate series? Well Trevor and Regina are back and we finally get to know the truth!

A promise is a promise. I promised to finish this series and I have. Book three is now available. I am grateful I was prompted to finish this series. I had no idea how it was going to continue or end because I had forgotten the original story. But the minute I started to write the ideas flowed. The magic always happens in the doing. By the time I was done writing I was buzzing. I had a writing high!

So here it is, book 3 in the inmate series. I had no idea I would enjoy it so much, but then again, I love writing about psychopaths.

Morbid curiosity?

Could it be as Grisolia (2001) says: ‘Our fascination with psychopaths seems to well from a deep, dark place within us a place that yearns for an absence of constraints that longs for unfettered domination of others.’

God forbid!

The truth about Trever is finally revealed. Regina has got herself into deep trouble with a serial killer. She could go to jail or die if she carries out his wishes. But it isn’t just Trevor who’s a threat. There is a lot more to it than that.
Cristiano turns up in the nick of time. A coincidence? Perhaps. But he is the only person she can trust to get her out of the shit she finds herself in. In two days a miracle must happen or her life is over. What happens when she runs out of time? It’s life or death for Regina.

Excerpt

‘Regina Lawrence, born January 1978, mother alive, no siblings. An only child who was loved and cared for. Married to Taylor, or should I say going through a divorce. Or are you divorced already?’
‘Who are you?’ her heart raced. She was afraid for her life. If he knew this much about her, then he must be working with the same people working with Trevor Stackhouse.

‘You went to Sheffield university, did your masters at Huddersfield university and your research for your PhD at Leeds university. You then worked with the NHS, then worked with a charity raising awareness about mental health. You met Taylor while at a charity event. He was the same as you at the time. Both working for the good of people.’
‘I want to go home.’ She pulled on the bedcover terrified.
His voice was calm, he didn’t flinch or turn threatening, all he did was tell her about her life. ‘For a while, as a couple you loved helping the less advantaged, but after marriage, and unable to fall pregnant naturally, you two began to realise just how important money was. That’s when you went into private practice, opened your own practice, became well known and wrote a ton of books.’
‘I know my life, I don’t need you to tell me what I already know.’
‘Oh yes, I do. So, let me finish.’ He seemed to be enjoying this and this was what made her nervous. ‘Taylor became a better lawyer or should I say he started to represent the rich rather than the poor. You can only be Robinhood for so long. But then both your careers took you away from why you went private practice in the first place and you drifted apart.’
‘It didn’t happen that way. You think you know me, but you don’t. All you have are facts. Moments of my life.’
‘This is true, but I don’t need to know every single detail, I just need to know enough. It turns out your husband fell out of love with you and left you for another woman.’
That still stung.
‘I’m sorry he did that.’
‘Why are you sorry?’
‘Because a beautiful woman like you deserves to be treated better.’
‘You mean by someone like you.’ She shook her head. ‘The last time someone said that, it got me into this mess.’
‘Yes, now I’m a little confused about the mess you keep talking about. You’ve been doing so well for so long. Then suddenly your husband breaks up with you, you receive a client who isn’t just a normal client, but a vicious murderer who has killed god knows how many women. I read that in the papers. Not only do you receive this new patient, but you get him to reveal where the bodies are. No one was able to do that. Why you? Is that why you’re in so much trouble, Doctor Lawrence?’

This story is available on Amazon and coming soon to other outlets.

Bittersweet (Abandoned Hearts Series book 1)

So, I started writing this story last Friday. I had it all figured out, or so I thought. On Tuesday while I was writing the scene for that day it took a sudden turn! Noooo! It wasn’t supposed to end that way! I told myself. It was supposed to end the way I’d planned. I had promised myself to stick to what I had planned, but that didn’t happen. I can’t undo a new idea and fighting it just isn’t worth it. I couldn’t chase the idea away, it didn’t matter how much I tried to reason with it. So here you have it, the story told as it wants to be told. Bittersweet!

Everything was perfect until she announced she was pregnant…and then it wasn’t.
Married for six years, Skylar and Noah are the perfect couple. She’s CEO to a big business and he runs his own restaurant. He is tall, sexy and the most wonderful man she’s ever know, and she is beautiful, confident and is often referred to as the ‘ice queen or bitch’ at work. This doesn’t faze Skylar, she didn’t get to where she is by being nice. But one day not feeling like herself, she unexpectedly finds out she’s pregnant. Once the news is broken to Noah, shaken by his response, she suddenly realises how little she really knows him and begins to doubt their relationship.
As she tries to convince him that this might be the best thing that’s happened to them, that life is more than money and chasing career goals, the more he resists, until something strange happens. A shift within the relationship changes everything, but instead of questioning it, Skylar blindly accepts that things were meant to be. If only it was that simple!

Excerpt
PREGNANT
‘Oh my god.’ She burst into laughter. Not a reaction she expected, but it happened. She just couldn’t stop laughing. ‘Really?’ She covered her mouth astonished. ‘Oh god. This is…’ She had no words. She didn’t feel upset or angry, in fact she felt happy. With that thought she put her hand to her belly and rubbed it gently. ‘Is it possible? Am I even a woman?’ She giggled. The times she’d been called an ice queen made her feel as though she had no ovaries, but she knew that wasn’t true. Deep down she was a lovely person.
She flushed the toilet, cleaned up and headed back to her office.
‘You can come in now, Claire.’
Claire walked back in, but noticed that her boss was a little different. ‘Are you sure you’re okay?’
‘Sit down.’ She said.
‘Am I being fired?’
‘Oh, don’t be so dramatic. I have brought you with me everywhere.’
‘Oh, thank god.’
‘Are you serious? You know me better than that.’
‘It’s just you’re acting so strange.’
‘That’s because.’ She stalled.
‘Yes?’
‘I just found out I’m pregnant!’
‘Oh my god!’
‘I know!’
‘Are we happy or…’
‘We’re happy…I think!’
‘Oh my god. Congratulations!’
‘Thank you.’
‘Can I give you a hug?’
‘I’ll let you,’ Skylar teased.
Claire came around the desk and gave her boss and friend a hug.
‘Don’t you dare say a word to anyone. You know what they’re like about babies.’
‘I won’t. My lips are sealed. But what are you going to do?’
‘I will cross that bridge when I get there. For now, I don’t want anyone to know.’
‘Okay.’
‘And to think I had some terrible disease.’
‘Hmmm?’
‘I haven’t been myself. Noah has been telling me to go to the doctor, but I kept putting it off.’
‘What made you decided to take the test?’
‘I’ve been so busy that I didn’t notice that my period was late. It was only when I was sick in the bathroom at the client meeting did it click. That’s what prompted me.’
‘Well I am happy for you.’
‘Yeah… strange. I never really thought about children. I’ve always been so focused on my career that it wasn’t something I thought about.’
Claire smiled.
‘Anyway, I better get back to work. We signed the deal so that’s going to be good news for the shareholders, but now I have to see what my staff have done to bring in more business. I always dread these meetings, especially when I don’t get what I want.’
‘And yet you do.’
She laughed. ‘You’re right I do, but it’s such hard work keeping up this image. It’s going to be tougher now that I am pregnant. I have no idea how I’m going to spin this.’
‘You’ll figure it out like you always do.’
‘I guess, but this is both scary and exciting. I have a little life inside me. So, it’s not like running a business.’
‘You’ll do just fine, just call your sister, she’ll set you straight.’
Skylar laughed, that was so true, her big sister was the only one who could calm her down, or put her in her place when she was getting out of line. ‘Yeah, you’re right, in fact I’ll give her a call now before the meeting, see if I can’t steal a moment of her time.’
‘Good luck.’

I hope you enjoy the story! This story is available at Amazon US, Amazon UK, Barnes &Noble, Apple bookstore, Scribd, kobo, Tolino 24 symbols, Inktera, Overdrive and Playster.

Ruby_Rae Series book six!

It's finally here! Book six of the Ruby-Rae series. I wrote this story through a lot of pain and it will probably come out in bits. You may or may not notice, but what I know for sure, is that some things just come out because of how I feel. It's as if the pain from within travels through me and out through my fingers onto the page. Sounds weird but it's true. You will probably notice the pain at the end of the book rather in the middle of the story. It wasn't something I had intended, but I write from my heart rather from my head and some things catch me by surprise.

It was probably not the ending I had planned at the beginning, but it was an ending that was necessary. I hope you do enjoy this story! Is it the end of the Ruby-Rae series? I don't know, you tell me. At the end I have left it up to my readers. There might be more story in me to tell, but I would also like to hear from you and let me know. It's hard letting go of a series because the couple become people I know. Even though they're not real!  I will wait to hear from you!

Synopsis

The baby is gone! Ruby-Rae and Jacob find themselves stuck in the middle of nowhere. They have no idea how to find the baby, and it doesn’t matter how hard Jacob tries to find her, it’s always a dead end. They will not give up hope, but it will take someone with a bit more resources and connections to make things happen. But like anything it comes at a price.

Ruby-Rae must begin to discover parts of herself she never knew existed. It’s up to her to get the baby back. Ruby-Rae and Jacobs relationship is put to the test, will it survive? Only time will tell!

Available at Amazon UK and Amazon US and will soon be available on other outlets!

What's next?

Well I have had to read the inmate series to remember what it's about. I wrote this series a while ago and I must admit, I had forgotten part of the story. That's because I have written so many stories. I must admit, I enjoyed reading it. I understand why I would write like that. To be honest, I'm not sure I understand why I quit that series before book three and I don't remember how it was supposed to continue. But worry not, I will write book three, my mind is funny like that. I will sit down to write without a clue of how it's going to turn out, so be prepared to be surprised. It was on my next list to write, but there is a story before that that has to be written. It won't be long and that's a promise. The inmate series is a short series so it won't take me that long to write. You'll understand why the book in between had to come first.

I do apologise for the way I write, I'm driven by feelings and act on what I feel. I've decided rather than see this as a flaw, I want to embrace it and just be who I am.  Hope that makes sense.

Look out for the next story and I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts with regards to the Ruby-Rae series.

Love and Light always

Holiday, writing and a bit more

So I'm back from my holiday! It was lovely to see my family! I loved being in their company and I got a good chance to have good long chats. Oh and I enjoyed the lovely food my sis was making. She loves to cook for people and you can tell her food is made with love.

We spent our first day just chilling around the house. I went for a walk with my daughter, and we all went out for something to eat in the evening.  A few pics as promised

The house we stayed in on holiday. It was beautiful!

Me posing for the camera after a walk with my daughter. The weather was awesome!

Evening out with the family.

Out and about!

It was a lovely time and even though there are loads more photos, it would take two more posts to show all!

When I got back I had to put my head down and finish my final assignment. It took me a while to finish but I finally handed it in on Tuesday early morning! A proud moment for me! I've finished my first year in psychology! I'm feel pretty damn proud of myself. Now it's back to writing. The Ruby-Rae series is on it's way, you won't be waiting too long. I've been focusing on writing it now, and trying to make sure my writing becomes a priority again.

I have definitely seen some improvement since I started to move my books to other outlets. It's a slow process, but encouraging because I am seeing change. I am hoping to have built more momentum by Christmas. It will be a little bit difficult since I start my second year in October, but if I stick to a timetable, I will find the time to do it all. I might not get it right all of the time, but I will do the best I can.

That's all for now. Keep your eyes opened for the Ruby-Rae series coming out soon! More updates will follow soon.

Kindle Unlimited, Indie author, going wide, new titles and much more....

This might interest other indie authors. You know when you’re stuck in a rut and you’re not sure what to do about it? That was me a few weeks ago. My rut was KU select. I’ve just begun to free myself from KU.  Now I know some indie authors are making it work, but it wasn’t the case for me. I have tried to make it work, but with anything, after trying and it’s still not working it’s time to stop! That doesn’t mean giving up, rather it’s a time to step back, reflect and come back with a better strategy than the one that’s not working.
I finally accepted that it was time to go wide again. Time to find new readers, new adventures and leave the old behind.  It was time to see the world as an abundant place, full of opportunities and lots to discover. What KU did was put blinkers on me, placing me in a competitive mindset that only put me in high stress. It also stopped me from seeing anything else. Just because you’ve reached a brick wall doesn’t mean you can’t go over it, go around it or walk back in the direction you came and take a different turn a few miles ahead.  Opportunities are endless, we’re the only ones who get in our own way, limit ourselves with our limited beliefs.

Slowly I have begun to remove my titles from KU. I have to wait a while for some of my titles because of the exclusivity clause.  What I like about going wide is I can put my first book in a series out for free for as long as I want and not just five days that KU allows. What I’ve noticed about slowly putting a free book in a series is that I find new readers and some of those readers continue to read the rest of the series. This will be a slow process but a more sustainable one in the long run. I’m looking ahead and hoping to keep my head afloat. That also means more titles from me this year and next.  Like building a business or a house, it’s about taking a step at a time, one brick at a time. One day there will be a house. Life is no quick fix, it’s a process. Just like you can’t plant a seed today and expect it to be done in a week, so is everything in life. We want instant, we want it now. I know I did, but instead of trying to get to the finish line, I want to enjoy the journey. Take in the ups and downs as I get to where I want to be. That’s the life I’ve chosen from this day forward.  I know I’ve made the right decision, and I will write about it again in about six months and to report how I got on. I hope this helps other indie authors who are struggling with whether or not to stay in KU.

Now other news! I received a message about my inmate series. I haven’t thought about the series in a long time, but the question was when would I be writing book three. Now that’s a very good question and I’m grateful for this reader for bringing it to my attention. This has focused me to look at it and make a commitment to write book three so look out for that. I am in the middle of writing the Ruby-Rae series at the moment, but after that I will take a look at the inmate series. I also have my Lilly book to write as well. This is all good for me, it means for the next few months I have a lot of writing to do. I’d like to tie up all loose ends before the end of the year on all books.

Okay, this is about it for a while. I’m about go on holiday and so I’m already in holiday mode. I’m off to Prague to meet my family. I have family in South Africa, and a nephew in the Netherlands, so we’re meeting up, it’s a family reunion.  It will be a good break and I promise to share some snaps when I get back.

I’m really beginning to feel optimistic about my life, about the coming months and I’m looking forward to the new year. A whole lot has happened that has forced me to refocus my life and remember who I am and what I can and have achieved so far. I am the woman I am because of the strength I have within. And next year you will hear all about it, changes, changes, that’s all I can say at the moment. Change even though hard, forces growth and when you look back you thank the stars, the universe or yourself for the things that happened. The moment you embrace change and stop struggling against the current you actually begin to enjoy it and understand it. Understand that life just is!

That’s all for now. Stay blessed and I will update you with snaps and new books soon.

New book! What Happened to Lilly

So I've finally finished my latest story. I've really enjoyed telling it and I hope you enjoy it too. So now that this book is out,  it's time for me to get back to writing the Ruby-Rae series. Lots to come! Exciting times.

New book available at AMAZON US and AMAZON UK

Sophia Fitzgerald had married the wrong man and was now stuck with two children her husband Blake never wanted. Blake, her now ex has walked out of his family, leaving her to pick up the pieces and work through the pain of it all. Through it all, she has her adoptive parents support who love her very much.
One day, her father, Edwin Fitzgerald sets her up with a man he thinks would be perfect. Oscar is the kind of man Edwin would love as a son in law and would do anything to make it happen. Before signing a business deal with Oscar, Edwin asks him to take his daughter, Sophia on a date. It’s an odd request, but Oscar decides that it would be worth it, once he got the business he wouldn’t have to entertain Edwin’s daughter anymore. But that all changes when Oscar meets Sophia. Not only is she beautiful and hard to ignore, she’s about to pop with a second child. It’s the oddest paring, but it almost seems perfect. Oscar, never married, no children and no prospects of doing so, thinks things might just work out. And things do turn out so well that the pair get together, and he becomes step father to the new baby, Lilly.

Sophia is living her fairy life. When she thought love had abandoned her, Oscar showed her that it was possible to find love again. But the fairy tale is short lived when on a very special day, Lilly disappears from their lives. It could be anyone, but no one is talking and everyone is looking. What the hell happened to Lilly?

There you have it! This is a little different to what I usually write, so I'm excited about it. I really do hope you enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Now back to writing the Ruby-Rae series!

It's been a while

I know, I had promised to keep my blog up to date, but life happened. I'm sorry for not keep you up to date with what's going on with my life and work. I'm back now and focused on bringing out quite a few stories before the end of this year.

So first things first. The Ruby Rae series. I've put it on hold on for a short while. I have a story that's going between this series and then I will be back to tell you everything that's happening with Ruby-Rae. I can't wait to get back to it myself. There's so much to tell. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with all I want to do and freeze and do nothing at all. But I'm unstuck now and I a moving again.  I will be finishing my first year at Uni so that's out of the way until October. It's been a challenge but worth it. I'm looking forward to my second year.

So a little bit about my new story.  It's a thriller. Yep. Be prepared for a little bit of disturbing stuff, but there is love, lots of it so don't be put off by the ugly. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it. Every story I tell I get really excited about, and I'm grateful for all the people who have read my books. Thank you for your support. Mwah!

Here's the cover to the new story coming out really soon!

Stay beautiful

So the third part to the Rub-Rae series has been published. She's been captured! Will Jacob find her? If he does, what happens after that. There seems to be so many twists and turns to Ruby-Rae's life. At least one thing is certain, she has someone who loves her and that makes things a lot easier.

Book 3 is now available at Amazon and is in the top hundred of 90 min reads thrillers. You can see it here. The woman in her dreams top 100 short reads.

Synopsis

Ruby-Rae has been taken! It is now up to Jacob to find her. But what happens to her parents? They are the ones who have caused all this trauma in her life. Things are changing fast. Her abductors have unlocked a few memories that could jeopardise a lot of things. Will Jacob find and rescue her, and if and when he does, what will happen next? Things aren’t as they seem. Things begin to unfold and answers begin to come to Ruby-Rae. But who is the woman in her dreams? That is what Ruby-Rae really needs to find out!

Excerpt

Ruby-Rae was in and out of consciousness. She felt a slight prick to her arm and managed to open her eyes to catch a glimpse of what was going on.  The man with the white beard stood beside her with two other men. There was a woman to the other side of her.
‘What’s…what’s going on?’
‘Where is it Nuan?’ The bearded man asked.
‘Where’s what?’ Her mouth felt like cotton wool and her head felt like an axe was lodged in it. What did this man want? What was he asking for? Where was what?
The man looked at one of the men and asked, ‘How much more can she take before it becomes dangerous?’
‘One more, any more she might never come back from it.’ He looked to the side where a couple of syringes lay.
‘Fine, give her one more then.’
The man was hesitant. But he had to do what he was told even though he knew it was a danger to Ruby-Rae. He picked up a syringe and administered it to her arm directly in her vein. Ruby-Rae felt the liquid shoot through her veins all around her body and finally to her mind. It was like a short knock out and then being woken up from it. She struggle to keep her eyes opened.
‘Nuan, where did your father and mother hide their secrets? It’s important that you tell me. He was a smart man and I’m sure he gave you some sort of information. Information that if put together could be very useful indeed. I need it.’
She moved her head from side to side slowly, the room spun and his voice felt like it was a YouTube video on a slow connection. It was then that she slipped into a place she’d didn’t remember but felt happy.

I hope you enjoy the story and look out for book four coming soon!

So I've finally finished the second part to the Ruby-Rae series. It is a few days late, but I've made it. I hope you enjoy it. Don't worry, the next one won't take this long as I'm only focusing on this story for now.

Ruby-Rae is an interesting character. She will soon learn how valuable she is to those who hunt her down. Jacob is her hero. If it wasn't for him, she would've died. It's nice to have someone who has your back, it reminds you that you're not alone in this life. There is still quite a bit to tell and the exciting part is that I don't even know what's going to happen next. The story guides me, it has a life of it's own, I find that really exciting!

You can get this story on Amazon

Synopsis

Jacob has finally come to Ruby-Rae’s rescue, but what will happen to Henry and the deal his parents made with Ruby-Rae. What Ruby-Rae doesn’t know is that other people are after her too. It’s only after Jacob commits to keeping her safe does he find out why.

The new love of her life has come at the right time, probably the best time because Ruby-Rae is in more danger than she will ever know.

Other News

Well I was doing dry January and by day ten I gave in and had a drink!! Oh no! The truth is I don't feel guilty at all. I feel there's no point and it serves no purpose. Will I try again? Not sure, but for now I'm just living one day at a time.

I hope your year has started out great and will continue to be a great year! That's all for now.

Dry January and other news

So I've committed myself to having a dry January. I'm a bit late to the party because it's only been three days! But three days no booze for me is a big deal. It was getting to the point I was polishing a bottle of Merlot a day!!! Not cool. To be honest I didn't want to stop drinking, but I discovered that it was becoming a terrible habit so I've decided to go thirty days without drinking.

I can't count the first three days because I drank half glass on the second of Jan and three glasses on the third of Jan, but on the fourth day I was fed up of this routine so I got up and promised I would go thirty days without any kind of alcohol.

On New Years eve I had one hell of a night. I had actually told myself that I wanted to get really pissed! I did and paid the price for that night. It was enjoyable, but by the end of it I didn't enjoy the hangover.

This is me early hours of New years day!!!

I felt awful! And though I can't promise I will never do this again because I know what I'm like when I go out to party, I do want to stay away from the booze this January. So far it's been great.

Day One

Felt really motivated and kept drinking blackcurrant with seven up, as well as a few cups of tea. That evening I slept really well.

Day Two

Waking up felt awesome. No headache, not feeling moody and while I walked my dog early that morning I had so much energy. It felt awesome.

Day Three

This is the day I pat my self on the back. Although it isn't a big deal to some people, it's huge for me. I feel pretty great. The night before I was watching Cougar Town with my Bae and every time the cast drink, I kept wanting a drink, but I didn't do it! So that was great!

What these three sober days have taught me?

Well I'm doing a lot more work. I'm ahead of my university work. I have a lot more energy and I'm writing a lot more than when I'm drinking. Drinking makes me drowsy and all I want to do at the end of the day is sleep.  So the effects have been pretty positive. I want to stay the course. Watch this space.

So will I drink again? Yes. I'm not planning to quit for good, but I do want to change my relationship with alcohol. I want to drink it and enjoy it, but not drink every day. Everything in moderation, as the saying goes!

And other news...

Well I'm working on the second part to the Ruby-Rae, Assassin series. I'm enjoying that. It will be available next week. So keep your eyes peeled.  I will be sticking with this story until it's finished. I don't want to drag this one. So you won't be waiting too long.

Besides writing I will be out Saturday morning at a coffee morning. I am a bereavement supporter for those who have lost loved ones to terminal illness. This will be my first coffee morning so I am looking forward to it.

That's all the news I have for now, I wish you all the best for 2017!

stay blessed
